Paint Color Center Installs Client: True Value
True Value Hardware is a large national co-operative company with more than 5,000 members. Its paint manufacturing and marketing arm - True Value Manufacturing (TVM) - decided to change the color palette for their branded paint lines and needed to install new Paint Color Centers in participating member stores across the country.
TVM hired TouchPoint 360 as their installation and project management resource for the project because of their demonstrated capabilities in planning, scheduling, communicating, executing, and reporting. The challenge was massive... the installations were to be rolled-out nationally, with the first wave of 667 stores to be completed over a 90-day period.
TouchPoint 360 began the process by reviewing the requirements with the Paint Color Center display manufacturer and the shipment carrier in order to schedule deliveries to each location. The next step was development of the installation schedule spreadsheet incorporating every store's weekly and daily install date, freight tracking number, and contact information for the stores and TouchPoint 360 Field Implementation Managers (FIMs).
Then came the process of assembling and training TouchPoint 360's installer group for the project. The installers were all part of TouchPoint 360's "Certified Partner" network... installation subcontractors that are prequalified in accordance with stringent criteria pertaining to uniformed dress codes, background checks, drug screening, financial standing, and installer skill level. Installers were provided with a project manual detailing the steps required for a successful installation, as well as outlining all communications and reporting requirements. Finally, TouchPoint 360 produced a training video on DVD to enable installers properly identify the display pallets delivered to the store, identify all the display components, and efficiently complete assembly and installation.
Once the installation program was underway, TouchPoint 360 FIMs carefully monitored the entire process, ensuring that schedules and high-quality standards were maintained. TVM was provided with daily summaries of installation activity and each week received a CD including the 24-hour pre-call checklist, project recap, quality assurance checklist, and photo verification of every display installed. A system for tracking damaged display components and scheduling repair/replacement was also part of the program. TouchPoint 360's execution of the program not only met all expectations, but actually exceeded them. Thanks to program and project management efficiencies, the 667 stores serviced included 30 additional stores that were added to the original 90 day schedule. And TouchPoint 360 took True Value's Paint Color Center installation program from strategy to successful completion with minimal inconvenience to member store operations. As one store owner put it: "Good job, professional, neat and with very limited interruption of normal business." Back to results |
